Outsourcing IT isn’t giving it up. It’s getting it handled.
Outsourced IT support means your business gets a complete IT department — helpdesk, monitoring, security, and planning — without hiring one. We do this under a managed IT services agreement: one flat monthly rate, everything handled.
The businesses that call us about outsourcing are usually at a decision point. They’ve grown to where IT problems cost real money, and the question is: hire someone, or bring in a team? We’ve watched that decision play out since 2009, and the honest answer depends on your size — which is why we’ll tell you if hiring makes more sense for you.
For most businesses between 10 and 100 employees, it doesn’t. Here’s the math.
“I’ve been working with BoldTech for more than 4 years. They are always on top of all my requests and have their customers’ best interests in mind.”

One in-house tech vs. an outsourced IT team
The comparison most businesses run in their head. Here it is on paper.
Hiring one IT person
A mid-level IT tech in the Portland metro runs $70,000+ in salary — closer to $90,000 once you add benefits, payroll taxes, training, and tools. For that, you get one person’s knowledge, one person’s hours, and one person’s specialties. They take vacations, they get sick, and when they leave, everything they knew about your systems walks out the door with them.
Outsourcing to BoldTech
A flat monthly rate that’s a fraction of one salary, for a whole team: helpdesk coverage, network and security specialists, Microsoft 365 expertise, and someone planning your technology budget. Nobody’s vacation takes your IT down, and your documentation lives in our systems — written down, current, and yours. Turnover stops being your problem.
There’s a size where hiring in-house makes sense — usually well past 100 employees, or when you need someone physically present every day. We’ll tell you honestly which side of that line you’re on.
What stays in your control
The biggest fear about outsourcing is losing control. Here’s exactly what stays yours.
Your accounts
Every license, domain, and vendor account stays registered to your business — not to us. You’re never locked in.
Your data
Your files, your email, your backups — yours. We manage them; we don’t own them.
Your decisions
Every project and purchase gets quoted before work starts. You approve spending; we don’t surprise you.
Your documentation
Passwords, network maps, and system docs are kept current and belong to your business. If we ever part ways, you get all of it.
What the transition looks like
Whether you’re replacing an internal hire, a departing “computer person,” or another provider.
1. Assessment
We look at your current setup and what knowledge needs capturing before it disappears. You get an honest read and an exact monthly number.
2. Knowledge transfer
We document everything — systems, passwords, vendors, quirks — so nothing lives only in someone’s head. This is where outsourcing pays off first.
3. Full coverage
Your staff gets a helpdesk, your systems get monitored, and IT planning starts happening on a schedule. Most teams forget what the old way felt like within a quarter.

Common questions about outsourcing your IT
The questions owners ask when they’re weighing this decision. If yours isn’t here, call and ask it directly.
Outsourced IT support means an outside company acts as your IT department — helpdesk for your staff, monitoring and maintenance of your systems, security management, and technology planning — for a flat monthly rate. You get the capabilities of a full IT team without recruiting, hiring, or managing one.
A single mid-level IT hire in the Portland metro costs $70,000 or more in salary — closer to $90,000 with benefits, taxes, and training. Outsourcing to us costs a fraction of that, priced as a flat monthly rate based on your users, servers, and locations. We’ll give you an exact number after a short assessment.
No — and this matters to us. Every account, license, and domain stays registered to your business. Documentation belongs to you. Projects get quoted before work starts so you approve every dollar. If we ever part ways, you get everything: passwords, network docs, the lot. We keep clients by being good, not by holding things hostage.
That’s one of the most common ways businesses come to us, and it’s urgent but fixable. During onboarding we capture and document everything — ideally while they’re still there, but we’ve done it plenty of times after the fact. The end state is your IT knowledge written down and owned by the business, not a person.
Yes. If you have an internal person you want to keep, we work alongside them — they handle day-to-day questions, we provide escalation, security, and project capacity. That arrangement is called co-managed IT, and it’s common at the larger end of our client range.
Most issues are resolved remotely within the same day — faster than waiting for someone to walk over. When hands-on work is needed, we’re local: same-day or next-day on-site across Vancouver, Clark County, and the Portland metro. You get remote speed and local presence, not one or the other.
